Teenage health programme.

The teenage health programme was sponsored by Transnet and was held between 22-24 August 2017. Teenage girls attend this programme 3 times a year. When they attended their first session they received a back bag with toiletries and a menstrual cup. After that they only received toiletries at the second and third meeting. Teen pregnancy group.

During the week of 11-15 December a Teen pregnancy group was held where information was given to help teenagers with their pregnancies, their lives after the child is born and their future. Day 1 was focused on: Introduction of stakeholders, self-concept, self-discipline, adolescent stage. 20 people attended. Day 2 was focused on: Emotional support, relationship within and outside the family, communication and conflict management, stress and anger management. 20 people attended. ICD Training.

The Child and Youth Care workers from Kathu received first aid training between 4 – 8 December presented by ICD at Boegoebergdam resort. Famsa believes in staff development in order to ensure a high standard of service delivery. They enjoyed the beautiful surrounding of Boegoeberg dam so much that the training nearly felt like a holiday!

Success story: Womans day 2017 at Transnet.

Success story: Marriage Enrichment 2017.

The Hope project presented a Marriage enrichment workshop on 26 September 2017 in Siyatemba, Kathu. The workshop was attended by 6 couples. Dr C v Schalkwyk addresses the couples on the importance of communication in the marriage and discuss listening skills, clear messages and negotiation techniques. Success story: Family day 2017.

A family day workshop was presented on 20 May 2017 to 15 families in Mapoteng by the Hope project in order to celebrate Family day 2017. The theme was “Families, education and well-being” The purpose of the workshop was to raise awareness of the role of families in promoting early childhood education and lifelong learning opportunities for children and youth. Success Story: Holiday Programme 2017.

The Hope project presents holiday programmes during the March/April and July holiday periods in the 5 towns of the Gamagara area. During the July holiday’s 2017 the holiday programmes were rendered on 6 days in each area and attended by 563 children. A range of activities were offered to develop the children’s skills, give them an opportunity to have fun and learn how they can manage their social time.
